So, when I started this whole blog get-up I guess I wasn't ready for the work load that goes into getting a post made... Not that it's a ton of work - it's just more than, well, not writing blog posts.
Basically what I'm getting at is that I'm behind. Slacking. Dragging ass.
Two weekends ago we spent a lot of time traveling to Seoul, which is actually a pretty easy trip. We hop on the bus from Songton that takes us to NamBu bus terminal in the south part of Seoul. From there we walk into the subway station and navigate our way around the city. The subway system here is increadibly easy to use, and we even have an app for it.
Saturday we spent time meandering the COEX Mall and then found ourselves at a Korean baseball game - such a riot! The Korean baseball fans put Americans to shame, no doubt. They have these inflateable sticks that they bang together while they cheer the entire time their team is up to bat. When their team is in the outfeild it's almsot silent.
One of their chants is to the tune we know as "Mary Had a Little Lamb"; we just sang those words.
Go Doosan Bears! |
Hotdogs and nachos? Nah. Get yourself some dried squid. Seriously. No, I'm not making that up.

On Sunday we went hiking. We were prepared for a lesiurely hike, little did we know that the Koreans hike straight up the side of the mountain - no switchbacks here. We were being passed by people my grandma's age (no offense grandma)! This was the first time I've seen the hubs actually struggling a bit.
So straight up, in fact, that they have these poles and ropes set up so you can stay on the side of the mountain on your way up and |
But we made it! The view was breathtaking - the city of Seoul covered in smog in all its glory.
I'm pointing out the subway station we started at. |
Along the way there were a few temples, but this one was by far our favorite. We rested here for a few minutes and took in the beauty. I could stare at their architecture and paintings for.ev.er.
From start to finish the hike took us 5 1/2 hours - a little unexpected but so worth it.
